Tile Maintenance Tip

Cleaning and maintenance

Never clean your tiles with washing up liquid!

Why? Because washing up liquid has salt dissolved in it to remove grease from your crockery and cutlery. What this does is leave a salty white residue in your grout as it dries, and the more you do it, the thicker it gets. Also, it has musks and perfumes in which when dried off, leave a sticky residue, which attract dirt like a magnet to the grout lines. Salt also creates minute scour marks on softer polished stones and makes the finished surface dull down over time. Always use the recommended maintainer for tiles that have been sealed (eg. stone or polished porcelain) with a matching branded product to prevent any reaction between the products, and use a clear liquid for ceramic tiles and non polished porcelain tiles after checking on the label that it can be used for tiles. This will ensure that cleaning your beloved kitchen or bathroom tiles is easy and hassle free, and will ensure that they look fresh for many years under normal use.
